I find Strieber to be a really good writer. He has written many books about aliens and I would think I would get tired of him. I am a huge Steven King and Dean Koontz fan but I find that after reading so many their books all start to seem the same. Even though Strieber has written many books about aliens and has a website that covers sighting and abductions, I have not tired of his novels.
I never read Communion, but it is 115 in the morning and I just finished Grays. I could not put it down. His writing is crisp, his characters are complex but they come right off the page and into your life. You find that you really care about them. You worry for them. You dread what might happen on the next page.
Like most authors who broach the subject of aliens, Strieber has a soft spot for them. In Grays as in Hybrids, it is the human heart that deceives and either creates evil or commits it. At the same time the characters that you care about are almost always redeemed in the process. He brings the aliens and humans together in a way that most of us can only dream might be reality.
So if you enjoy alien fiction that may be too close to the truth for comfort, if you love a good read, if you want a book you won’t want to put down, Grays by Whitley Strieber is your choice.
